Abstract

Background: Adolescents face significant risks related to a lack of knowledge about reproductive health and early breast cancer detection. Awareness among adolescents about the importance of maintaining reproductive health remains low, potentially impacting their long-term health quality. Furthermore, inadequate education on BSE (Breast Self-Examination) is a contributing factor to delayed early detection of breast cancer in women. Addressing these issues requires effective educational interventions to enhance students' understanding and skills regarding reproductive health and BSE. The primary goal of this study is to provide health education to students on reproductive health and BSE training and to measure their understanding levels. Objective: To provide reproductive health education and BSE training to students and evaluate its effectiveness in improving their understanding. Methods: This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 88 students selected using a total sampling technique. The variables analyzed included knowledge levels before and after the intervention. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests to identify significant changes. Results: The findings revealed a significant increase in students' knowledge levels regarding reproductive health and BSE following the educational intervention. Prior to the intervention, 45% of participants demonstrated low knowledge levels, which improved to 85% showing high knowledge levels post-intervention (p < 0.05). Female students also exhibited better comprehension of BSE techniques and the importance of early breast cancer detection. Conclusion: Reproductive health education and BSE training significantly enhanced high school students' knowledge levels. This intervention is recommended as a sustainable program to increase awareness and skills for early breast cancer detection among adolescents.
