Background: According to International Diabetes Federation (IDF) estimates, there were 382 million people with diabetes in the world in 2013. By 2035, IDF estimates that this number will increase to 592 million. DM is a metabolic disease characterized by an increase in blood sugar levels due to a decrease in insulin secretion by pancreatic beta cells. There are several efforts that can be made to control blood sugar levels in patients with DM, namely pharmacological therapy (insulin therapy and OHO) and non-pharmacological (education, nutritional therapy, and physical exercise). One of the physical exercises that can be done is relaxation therapy, namely autogenic relaxation which aims to regulate blood sugar levels which is very important with the mechanism of increasing the hormone cortisol, reducing stress and automatically lowering blood sugar levels. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of autogenic relaxation on reducing blood sugar levels while in patients with type II diabetes mellitus in the Jampangtengah Health Center Working Area in 2024. Methods: The research design used in this study was Quasi Experiment with Non-equivalent Control Group research design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling of 38 people. Results: The results showed that Ha was accepted with p value = 0.0001, while in the control group Ha was rejected with p value = 0.881. Conclusion: It is hoped that the results of this study will become an alternative by applying autogenic relaxation as a non-pharmacological management in patients with type II diabetes mellitus.
