Abstract

Background: Breastfeeding is a natural process to maintain and maintain the survival of children. Breast milk is the main source of nutrients and is needed by babies. Exclusive breastfeeding is given during the first 6 months of a baby's life. Many factors cause mothers' failure to provide exclusive breastfeeding, one of which is low maternal confidence in breast milk production. Increased milk production is influenced by the hormones prolactin and oxytocin. To stimulate the hormone prolactin and oxytocin by doing a Woolwich massage. The Woolwich massage technique is to massage the lactive sinus area which is located 1-1.5 cm above the mama's areola. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Woolwich massage on breast milk production. Method : This study uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design of one group pre-test and post test, this study compares one group with two treatments, namely observation of breast milk volume in breastfeeding mothers before and after woolwich massage. Woolwich massage is performed on breastfeeding mothers twice a day for three consecutive days. The sample of this study was 20 respondents using the total sampling technique Result: Based on the results of the statistical test, a p-value of 0.000 (<0.0005) was obtained Conclusion: There is a significant influence of Woolwich massage on increasing breast milk production.
