Labor pain is a physiological thing felt by the mother before giving birth, which is caused by stretching of the cervix, uterine contractions, and descent of the cervix which causes the release of prostaglandin hormone. If not treated, it can cause disruption of uterine contractions, resulting in uterine inertia which will cause prolonged labor. Prolonged labor carries the risk of bleeding which is one of the cause of maternal morbidity and mortality (MMR). Efforts to reduce labor pain include providing acupressure and moxibustion therapy. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of acupressure and moxibustion therapy on active phase first stage labor pain in mothers giving birth in the working area of the UPTD Puskesmas Sukaratu, Tasikmalaya Regency in 2024. This research method uses a pre-experiment with a one group pre and posttest design. The sample in this study was 30 women giving birth during the first active phase using Quota Sampling as a sampling technique. Pain intensity is measured using a numerical rating scale. Data analysis used was the dependent T test which was presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. The reseach result showed that the majority of labor pain before acupressure and moxibustion therapy was severe pain (70%), and the majority of labor pain after acupressure and moxibustion therapy was moderate pain (73.3%). There is a significant effect between before and after being given acupressure and moxibustion therapy with p value of 0.0001. The conclusion is that acupressure and moxibustion therapy have an effect in reducing labor pain during the first active phase of labor in mothers giving birth. It is recommended that acupressure and moxibustion therapy can be applied in practice as complementary care in reducing labor pain.
