Cisondari Village, Bandung Regency, is one of the areas still facing this problem. This community service activity aims to increase the community's knowledge and skills in sorting waste and processing organic waste into compost using maggots (Black Soldier Fly). The methods used include education through counseling, interactive discussions, and direct demonstrations of the stages of waste sorting and the process of making maggot-based compost. The target of this activity is the Cisondari Village community, consisting of village officials and local residents. The results of the activity showed an increase in the community's understanding of the types and benefits of waste sorting, as well as practical skills in processing organic waste into useful and environmentally friendly compost. The use of maggots proved to be effective in accelerating the decomposition process of organic waste and producing compost that can be used for agriculture and plantations. This activity is expected to encourage behavioral changes in the community in sustainable waste management and support environmental conservation efforts in Cisondari Village.
Aditiyana Eka Saputra, Teguh Akbar Budiana, Ruhyandi Ruhyandi, Lela Juhaeriah, Ambar Dani Syuhada Copyright (c) 2025 JOURNAL PENGABDIAN MASYARAKAT KESEHATAN https://ejournal.stikesjayc.id/index.php/pengmaskartika/article/view/488 Mon, 12 Jan 2026 00:00:00 +0700 UPAYA PENINGKATAN PENGETAHUAN TENTANG PEMERIKSAAN TANDA-TANDA VITAL PADA KADER KESEHATAN DI DESA WANGUNJAYA KECAMATAN BUNGBULANG KABUPATEN GARUT https://ejournal.stikesjayc.id/index.php/pengmaskartika/article/view/489
Health cadres are community representatives selected to front line health services for the community. Cadres play a crucial role as a bridge between community health centers and the community. Health cadres currently face the problem of limited health screening equipment and a lack of knowledge and skills in operating them. Vital sign assessment is a fundamental skill that health cadres must master to enable them to carry out prevention, early detection, and health monitoring efforts for the community. Wangunjaya Village currently has a health cadre team, but they still lack vital sign assessment equipment and have not received training on vital sign assessment. Efforts are needed to increase vital sign assessment equipment and improve knowledge and skills in conducting vital sign assessments. This knowledge improvement effort was carried out through vital sign assessment training for 12 health cadres. The training method was provided in two sessions using lectures and demonstrations for 180 minutes. Before the training, a pre-test was given, and after the training, a post-test evaluation and observation of vital sign assessment skills were conducted. The results of the training showed an increase in knowledge from a score of 45 to 85. The results of this activity showed a significant increase in knowledge about vital signs examinations among health cadres in Wangunjaya Village.
Galih Jatnika Copyright (c) 2025 JOURNAL PENGABDIAN MASYARAKAT KESEHATAN https://ejournal.stikesjayc.id/index.php/pengmaskartika/article/view/489 Mon, 12 Jan 2026 00:00:00 +0700 PENINGKATAN KEMANDIRIAN KESEHATAN KELUARGA MELALUI EDUKASI HIPERTENSI DAN REVITALISASI PEMANFAATAN TOGA DI DESA CUKANGGENTENG https://ejournal.stikesjayc.id/index.php/pengmaskartika/article/view/490
Public health is a key indicator in assessing the quality of life and the success of a nation’s development. Various health problems are still found at the family level, particularly non-communicable diseases and environmental issues. Hypertension is one of the most prevalent non-communicable diseases and has the potential to cause serious complications if not properly managed. On the other hand, the utilization of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA) as a local resource to support family health remains suboptimal, especially in rural areas. Cukanggenteng Village, Pasirjambu District, Bandung Regency, is one of the areas facing diverse public health challenges. Initial surveys identified three priority health problems: hypertension, suboptimal waste management, and low utilization of TOGA. These issues highlight the need for integrated public health interventions based on local needs to improve family health status. This activity was carried out using a community-based descriptive-analytic approach. Data collection techniques in activity involved both primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained through direct interviews with 86 respondents using a questionnaire based on indicators of the Healthy Indonesia Program with a Family Approach, field observations of environmental conditions and community health behaviors, as well as blood pressure measurements as part of identifying hypertension problems. Meanwhile, secondary data were obtained from village documents, RW data, and other supporting sources relevant to public health conditions in RW 01 and RW 03 of Cukanggenteng Village.
Agus Riyanto Copyright (c) 2026 JOURNAL PENGABDIAN MASYARAKAT KESEHATAN https://ejournal.stikesjayc.id/index.php/pengmaskartika/article/view/490 Mon, 12 Jan 2026 00:00:00 +0700 PEMBERDAYAAN SISWA MELALUI EDUKASI POLA HIDUP SEHAT UNTUK MENEKAN ANGKA OBESITAS DI SEKOLAH https://ejournal.stikesjayc.id/index.php/pengmaskartika/article/view/491
Background: Establishing a healthy lifestyle early in childhood is essential to mitigate the risk of obesity and break the chain of metabolic diseases. Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) is a recommended screening method; however, community participation is still limited. This community service activity aimed to increase knowledge, awareness, and interest of women of reproductive age in undergoing VIA screening through health education. The activity was conducted during a community meeting at RW 01, Cijawura Village, Buah Batu District, Bandung City, based on local community needs identified from a Self-Survey Assessment showing a VIA coverage of only 7.2%. The method used was health education through counseling, interactive discussions, and distribution of educational materials. As an output, collaboration was established with Margahayu Raya Primary Health Center to record and refer participants willing to undergo VIA screening and facilitate free examination services. The results showed increased participant engagement, improved understanding of cervical cancer prevention, and willingness to be referred for VIA examination. In conclusion, community-based health education combined with collaboration with primary health care services is an effective strategy to support cervical cancer prevention efforts and improve access to VIA screening services.
Inmas Andi Sermoati, Annisa Nuraini, Randi Apriansyah Copyright (c) 2025 JOURNAL PENGABDIAN MASYARAKAT KESEHATAN https://ejournal.stikesjayc.id/index.php/pengmaskartika/article/view/492 Mon, 12 Jan 2026 00:00:00 +0700 SKRINING PRE-DIABETES PADA PELANGGAN WARUNG KOPI SEBAGAI UPAYA PENCEGAHAN DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 https://ejournal.stikesjayc.id/index.php/pengmaskartika/article/view/493
Prediabetes is a critical phase where blood glucose levels are above normal but below the diagnostic threshold for diabetes. Coffee shop culture in Indonesia, often involving high sugar consumption and sedentary habits, increases the risk of metabolic disorders. This community service aims to screen for prediabetes using Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG) and 2-hour Post Prandial (2HPP) tests and provide health education to coffee shop customers. The activity followed a systematic approach: preparation, screening (POCT method), individual counseling, and evaluation. Thirty participants with a history of consuming ≥3 cups of coffee per day were involved. Screening results indicated that 56.6% (17 participants) were in the prediabetes category (FBG 100-125 mg/dL or 2HPP 140-199 mg/dL), while 43.3% (13 participants) were normal. Educational sessions focused on reducing sugar intake and increasing physical activity. High prevalence of prediabetes in this group highlights the importance of routine screening in community hubs. This program successfully increased health awareness and identified at-risk individuals for early intervention.
Ellsie Viendra Permana, Eki Herawati, Muhammad Alfan Muzakki Copyright (c) 2025 JOURNAL PENGABDIAN MASYARAKAT KESEHATAN https://ejournal.stikesjayc.id/index.php/pengmaskartika/article/view/493 Mon, 12 Jan 2026 00:00:00 +0700 PELATIHAN PEMBUATAN KONTEN EDUKASI KESEHATAN BERBENTUK VIDEO ANIMASI PADA SISWA SMA / SMK KESEHATAN https://ejournal.stikesjayc.id/index.php/pengmaskartika/article/view/495
The digital transformation in the education sector has created new opportunities for delivering health education, particularly among adolescents who are highly engaged with digital media.
