Abstract

Background: Anemia is a global health problem because its prevalence remains high in all age groups, especially in developing countries. Anemia is caused by nutritional and non-nutritional factors, with nutritional factors related to vitamin and mineral deficiencies. In addition to inadequate nutritional intake, nutritional anemia is also influenced by other factors such as socioeconomic status, education, diet, health facilities, growth, and infection. Anemia can cause a person to be susceptible to infection, decreased cognitive ability, and if it occurs in school children, it will reduce their capacity and ability to learn. Method: Anemia data was obtained by taking blood from the vein in the hand and measuring it using a spectrophotometer. The participants in this community service program were 61 female students in grades 7 and 8 at PGRI 4 Junior High School in Cimahi City. Results: The results showed that of the 61 female students studied, 8 students (13.1%) had mild anemia, and 9 students (14.8%) had insufficient knowledge.
